A Little Rest Goes a Loooong Way

A month ago I was feeling so overwhelmed.  My mouth has a hard time saying ‘no’ to things-something that my body doesn’t much like about my mouth.  It got to the point that I knew I needed to make a change.  I was especially feeling convicted because through the Bible and people in my life, I knew that God required us to trust Him and REST!  So Brendan and I decided that we would manage our time better by planning times for rest.  It’s never something I usually plan for unless we have a vacation, but it’s come to my attention that if I don’t plan rest, I’ll inevitably find something to work on or something to schedule.

Ever since we started this little “project” I’m feeling a lot more rested and less stressed about things.  I felt that scheduling a day or two of rest would really put me behind in work, but since God has commanded us to rest, He has also been faithful in providing help in every situation just like He said he would.

Our first little planned day was in June.  Brendan and I drove to Saint Augustine for the day.  It was so much fun.  We walked the streets and explored all the one-of-a-kind stores, read about the history and saw a canon go off, and we ate dinner at a restaurant that looked like a house with a huuuuge open deck right on the creek.  Here’s a little taste of the trip-

Happy 5 Years B!

So, this is a little late, but I’ve had this post in mind for a little while :) July 1st was Brendan and my five year anniversary!  It’s so hard to believe that it’s been five years, time is flying!  I’m so happy to be married to Brendan!  He just brought me some strawberries and Nutella for breakfast :)  that’s what a great guy he is.  My favorite thing, is that he is honestly my best friend.  I love just hanging out with him, just chillin’ at the house.  He makes me laugh so much and I truly believe that he’s the funniest at home when it’s just to two of us.  Another thing I love about him is how he is always willing to change and work on things.  He isn’t all “this is me so deal with it!”  He always wants to be better.

We met at church about 7 years ago, and I just loved his passion for Jesus and how we wanted to live for God.  The number one thing that makes our marriage work is God-it’s by His grace.  Sometimes we can get so mad about something and then when we take time to pray about it, it’s amazing how God works things out.

Well, I guess what I want to say is…Brendan I love you.  Thanks for a great 5 years my dear :)

Sar, Rae, and Colton come for a visit!

My friends from Canada and New Jersey (they are sisters) came to visit for a week with Rae’s little baby Colton.  It was our first time seeing Colton so we were really excited.  Also it had been a few years since we saw Sarah and Rachel.  I met their family about 18 years ago!  It’s sounds so crazy to say that now.  I was 8 so Sarah must have been 7 and Rae was 4! It’s crazy to think back to that time because now, little Rae has a baby!!!!!! So surreal!

We did a little photo shoot together one cold morning and then continued a bit inside the house.

Bye!

A Winter Wonderland

Last week, Brendan and I took a little trip to Boston.  We had some work to do, in the city of Hudson so we spent the night there tuesday night and woke up to snow EVERYWHERE!  I just love that feeling so much.  I haven’t experienced it in about 7 years because that’s how long I’ve lived in West Palm.  Brendan, a florida native didn’t know if he should go warm up the car or multi-layer his clothing.  I took a shower and realized that I HAD to dry my hair- it’s funny how you forget those little things!

Long story short, Boston is a wonderful city and we enjoyed ourselves a lot!  Here are some shots!

And then we went to Hudson….This is our car in the morning.

Visit with Chad and Misty!

Our BFFs Chad and Misty moved to North Carolina a little over a year ago and we really miss them!  We were so excited to hang out with them over the Thanksgiving long weekend.  We played tons of Rockband and went shopping and watched movies and just had a great time!  I miss my dear Misty soooo much!!!!!

May 3rd was my 26th B-Day!

This is me and my Aunt Lily (it’s her name that I used along side mine for the company name)!  I found this photo along with some other old photos as slides a few years ago.  I took the slides into a pro photo lab and they made a CD of the pics for me.  I then used PhotoShop to fix them up a little bit, made prints and gave them to my parents for Christmas.

Time sure does fly!

It was our ‘Name Day’ :)

This past Sunday was my ‘Name Day!’  A name day is celebrated in my country (Bulgaria.)  The Name Day is a day to celebrate a certain saint and all the people named after that saint celebrate their name day.  It’s sorta like a huge birthday party.  Now I don’t think that my name day is in celebration of a Saint, but all the people who are named after flowers celebrate their name day on the Sunday before Bulgarian Easter.  So if your name is Violet, Rose, Cali or something like that you would have the same name day as me!

Well guess you else shared my name day?  Oopsy DAISY!  She’s a little daisy :)

Oopsy Daisy

This blog is a few months too late.  But I wanted to give you all a little Oopsy update!  Mom mom-in-law Celeste and Brendan and I surprised my mom and dad by giving Oopsie to my mom for her birthday.  Now that my parents have her, I see her all the time.  She is such a cool dog.  She gets jealous of people kissing or hugging and runs over concerned looking when someone coughs or sneezes.

Well anyway, she is doing well- here’s a photo of her from the other day!

The Antidote #1

An antidoteor counterdose is a substance which can counteract a form of poisoning.  -Thanks Wikipedia!

I’m starting something on here called “The Antidote.”  Our world bombards us with images, text, media, etc. that can be so negative to our lives.  Sooo…I’m starting the Antidote to counteract some of that poison.

I just want to encourage everyone who comes on here to read this blog- life is a lot more than photography after all.

I thought a good way to start would be with an excerpt from Max Lucado’s book Cure for the Common Life.

“You are heaven’s custom design.  At a moment before moments existed, the sovereign Star Maker resolved, “I will make _____________.”  Your name goes in the blank.  Then he continued with, “And I will make him/her ____________, _____________and ________________and_____________________ and _______________.”  Fill those blanks with your characteristics.  Insightful.  Clever.  Detail oriented.  Restless.  And since you are God’s idea, you are a good idea.  What God said about Jeremiah, he said about you:  “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you.  Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work. “  (Jeremiah 1:5)

I just love that.

Please Pray

Yesterday I received a FW from Celeste (my mom-in-law).  It sort of stopped me, and shaped my attitude for the rest of the day.  How often I can say that I don’t appreciate all the blessings I have been given!  It’s a shame that God blesses me and I don’t even realize.  With the economy crisis and all the uncertainties that seem to pile up, it’s hard to remember that life is more than just the daily grind.  It’s also hard to remember that there are people out there in this world who are suffering greatly.  I’m ashamed for forgetting.

I want to point out that I didn’t cake these pictures, but I really love what this kind of photography has the potential to do.  A photograph can capture a moment (good or bad) and stir the hearts of the people who see it (hopefully to action).

I’m challenged to pray for the devastated people of our world, and I want to extend the invitation to you.  Will you pray with me, pray that people will be healed and loved.  That the lost may be found and that there could be joy in their lives.
